Rusti.fi (“we”, “us”) is a Rust game server browser: we track publicly operated Rust game servers — their address, population, ping, and wipe schedule — and show that to visitors deciding where to play. This policy covers what we do, and don’t do, with information about you, the visitor. It does not cover the game servers we list, which are run by independent third parties.
The short version
Rusti.fi has no user accounts, no comments, no ads, and no analytics or tracking scripts. We don’t know who you are, and we’re not trying to find out. The only thing about you we process at all is a brief, in-memory use of your IP address to guess which region you’re browsing from — covered in full below.
What we don’t collect
- No account registration, login, or user profiles.
- No comments or public submissions tied to your identity.
- No advertising, ad networks, or ad-tracking pixels.
- No analytics scripts (no Google Analytics or similar) and no third-party tracking of your activity on the site.
- No cookies used to track you across visits or between sites.
How we use your IP address
When you load the server list or the upcoming-wipes page, we use your IP address to make a one-off, local lookup against a self-hosted country-level geolocation database (MaxMind’s GeoLite2) to guess which of our ping-measurement regions is closest to you, so the ping figures shown are relevant to your location. This lookup happens on our own server, resolves to nothing more precise than a country, is used only to pick a default region for that page load, and is not stored, logged, or sent to MaxMind or anyone else. You can always override the auto-detected region yourself using the region selector on the page.
Like effectively any web server, our hosting infrastructure may briefly retain standard technical request logs (IP address, requested page, browser user agent) for security and troubleshooting purposes. These are operational logs, not a record kept about you personally, and we don’t use them for tracking or profiling.
Third-party services we use
We query Valve’s Steam Web API to discover the list of public Rust servers, and we query each game server directly (the same connection query the Rust client itself uses) to measure real ping and player counts. Neither of these involves sending any information about you — they’re outbound requests our server makes to game servers and to Steam, not requests that carry your data anywhere.
Cookies
We don’t set cookies to track visitors. WordPress, the software this site runs on, may set minimal technical cookies if you ever log in to an administrative account — that only applies to site administrators, never to ordinary visitors browsing the server list.
Children’s privacy
Rusti.fi doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Since we don’t collect personal information from visitors at all, this applies regardless of age.
Changes to this policy
If what we do here changes — for example, if we ever add a contact form, accounts, or analytics — we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
